Q: How much time will I spend maintaining my swimming pool?

A. With today’s innovative technology and equipment, owning a pool is easy. Most owners choose some sort of automation to operate their pool, which can be set on a consistent cleaning schedule. You can estimate that you’ll spend 15 minutes per week on minimal pool maintenance. We can put you in contact with one of our pool maintenance partners upon request.

Q: What’s the difference between a salt system and a standard chlorinated system?

A: Regular chlorine pools use added pre-made chlorine, in the form of liquid, powder, or tablets. This type of chlorine is typically the most concentrated, but also contains more added ingredients. Salt water pools, on the other hand, create their own chlorine in-house. With help from the saltwater chlorine generator cell, these systems sanitize your water by electrically processing salt into usable chlorine. The biggest physical difference between salt water and chlorine pools is the way the water feels. Salt water chlorine is less concentrated and milder than bottled chlorine, so it’s gentler on the skin, and less likely to irritate.

Q: What makes fiberglass the best option for inground pools?

A: Faster installation (days vs. weeks), less chemicals (a similar-sized Gunite pool will require an additional 50% to 125% MORE chlorine than a fiberglass pool, just to stay clean and “in balance”), less maintenance, and no interior liner replacement costs because fiberglass is much more durable than Gunite or a vinyl liner.

Q: Does my pool need a cover?

A: We recommend getting one, for many of the same reasons this article talks about.

Q: Should I close my pool during the winter in this area?

A: You may choose to close the pool. However, in our mild climate and because of the type of pump we install – combined with the salt water system and fiberglass shell construction – you will likely achieve best results by covering the pool and letting the system run at low power all throughout the off season.

Q: Do you offer a warranty?

A: Kool Blue Pools offers a lifetime structural warranty on the pool shell. For more details, please contact us.
